Tobiichi Origami is a Spirit? Date A Live Speculation
So, a friend of mine mentioned something about how the Date A Live girls all have numbers in their names.
Tohka (十香) = 10
Yoshino (四糸乃) = 4
Kurumi (狂三) = 3
Kotori Itsuka (五河) = 5
Yamai twins (八舞) = 8
Miku Izayoi (美九) = 9
Which is to be expected, since the Spirits correspond with the 10 Sephira in the Kabbalah (Judaism, Hebrew mysticism)
And he brought up something interesting, along the lines of:
“If we follow this, wouldn’t this make Origami a spirit?? “
Tobiichi (鳶一) = 1
Putting those two ideas together, I decided to research a bit. Tohka being the 10th Spirit, she’s Malkuth, so naturally Origami being the 1st corresponded with Keter.
*cough cough I don’t know actually know anything, so this is all just wiki knowledge*
“Kether, is the topmost of the Sephirot of the Tree of Life in Kabbalah. Since its meaning is “crown”, it is interpreted as both the “topmost” of the Sephirot and the “regal crown” of the Sephirot. It is between Chokmah and Binah (with Chokmah on the right and Binah in the left) and it sits above Tiphereth. It is usually given three paths, to Chokmah, Tiphereth, and Binah.”
I didn’t find anything that could have hinted Origami being a Spirit, until right here:
“Keter is so sublime, it is called in the Zohar “the most hidden of all hidden things”, and is completely incomprehensible to man. It is also described as absolute compassion, and Rabbi Moshe Cordovero describes it as the source of the 13 Supernal Attributes of Mercy.
Keter is invisible, colorless.”
Keter is invisible, colorless.
invisible, colorless = White = Origami significance
This conspiracy is even more surprising than Lucifer being Skrillex
Anyways, “absolute mercy” doesn’t really fit with Origami though imo, since she’s trying to defeat the Spirits as revenge for her late parents. But, thinking about how the series uses the Kabbalah and clever naming schemes to reference it, I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens later on.
